Workshop Duration: 1.5 hours

Part 2 is delivered as a 1.5-hour workshop. Part 1 is also 1.5 hours and may be taken separately or combined with Part 2 as a single 3-hour session.

This workshop can be delivered in person or virtually. 

This workshop is part of the School Physical Literacy Leader - Level 1 (Elementary) Certification

The goal of Energize Minds, Empower Bodies: Practical Strategies for Movement in the Classroom (Part 2) is to help elementary educators turn theory into action by exploring practical strategies for integrating movement throughout the school day.

Part 2, The Build, focuses on simple, effective approaches that can be implemented immediately in a variety of elementary school environments. Participants will discover ways to incorporate movement into academic lessons, transitions, social-emotional learning, and classroom management, while exploring the use of music, rhythm, and creative movement to enhance engagement and participation. Educators will leave with a toolkit of adaptable activities and strategies designed to support diverse learners and create more active, engaging learning experiences.

Learning Objectives: 

  • Apply practical movement strategies across a variety of school environments.
  • Identify opportunities to use hallways, outdoor spaces, playgrounds, and natural environments as movement-rich learning spaces.
  • Utilize music, rhythm, and creative movement to enhance student engagement and participation.
  • Adapt movement activities to support diverse learners and varying classroom contexts.
  • Design meaningful movement experiences that support physical literacy and social-emotional learning.
