Workshop Duration: 1 hour (self-paced)
Target Audience: This workshop is ideal for sport leaders, coaches, municipal recreation leaders, provincial and territorial sport organizations (PTSOs), funders and anyone committed to working collaboratively to deliver the best possible sport and physical activity in their community.
Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate of workshop completion and one National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Professional Development (PD) point (if applicable).
This workshop is part of the Quality Sport Leader - Level 1 Certification
The community is where most sport happens, yet there is often limited support in the form of resources, workshops and strategies for Canada’s sport and community leaders. This on-demand workshop is designed to support sport clubs and their community partners (such as facilities, municipalities and schools) by providing strategies and resources to enhance quality sport and physical activity experiences across all levels.
Through this expert-led video module, participants will explore how to strengthen community sport by focusing on three key pillars: Good People, Good Places and Good Programs.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Describe the key elements of the Quality Sport Checklist
- Explain the principles of athlete growth and development
- Identify strategies for long-term goal setting in sport programs
- Analyze the role of competition as a tool for athlete development
- Discuss approaches to ensuring sport is inclusive and accessible for all
- Examine how collaborative partnerships can support athlete and program development
